Still Not Ashamed

Back when I was completing my Masters degree, I did a presentation called “Why I used Wikipedia and am not ashamed of it”. My premise was that the true value of Wikipedia was not in the actual information, but the sources cited. While the articles were generally pretty awful (this was the end of 2005, so awful is an apt description), the citations often sent me in a direction that I had not expected, with positive impacts on my research. And so, nearly 20 years later, I’d still encourage use of Wikipedia. The articles are much better, but the citations are the gold.
