Thinking differently is what I do. I take simple ideas, such as sight-reading, adaptation, and six-mallet performance, and then I put a twist on them. The sight-reading is aleatoric. Some of my adaptations are based on timbre, rather than pitch. Six-mallet performance is almost universally associated with the marimba. I use multiple percussion instead. Thinking outside the box is not an intentional thing, it is intrinsic to the creative process.

I completed a bachelor's degree with first class honours in 2004 at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University. The following year I moved to Las Vegas to complete a Masters degree at UNLV. I then returned to the Queensland Conservatorium to pursue Doctoral studies in 2010, graduating in 2019. I also hold an A.Mus.A in piano performance.

My compositions and adaptations have been performed in Australia and the United States at schools and universities.

I have conducted masterclasses in high schools and universities, and have taught percussion in three schools around Brisbane. In each of these schools I more than doubled the number of students by developing a curriculum, writing teaching material, and establishing multiple ensembles.
